Ticket Information
We invite you to join Scottish-American King’s donor and theatre researcher / photographer Mike Hume and Capital Theatres’ Technical Director, John Robb, to hear the stories that made the King’s Theatre the people’s theatre of Edinburgh.

From the rival plan to beat other local theatre impresarios by winning over the public, the remarkable story of female lighting technician Bethia Cassie, to the exciting discovery last year of a 119-year-old message in a bottle, Mike will present a curated history of the King’s Theatre, insights into the current redevelopment project, and the chance to hear first-hand how his find of the historic bottle led to a 3-month quest to reveal its contents.

The session will include light refreshments and an open Q+A session, in addition to the rare chance to view objects from the theatre’s history, up close and personal. We hope you can join us for this truly unique experience.

The Festival Theatre features on Mike Hume’s Historic Theatre Photography website. Click here to view theatre history, information, technical specifications and to see lots of photos.
